Q.) What is the best time of day to have a wedding magician?
A.) There are a couple of different time slots in which a wedding magician can work perfectly during the day. My personal favourite is normally following the speeches – this is usually the same time as the main room is being turned-over. I always find that guests are in a great mood at this point and the magic can be a brilliant way to start the night. It also serves an the perfect ice-breaker for any evening guests who may be starting to arrive; welcoming them to the wedding and ensuring that everyone is having a fantastic time.
During the photographs is also a hugely popular option. Here I’ll be able to interact with your guests who aren’t involved with the photos; keeping everyone entertained as they wait. This is also ideal if you’re having the photo’s taken outside on a sunny day – it can really get a buzz going!
The wedding breakfast is also highly requested. Between courses, I’ll go from table to table performing some amazing close up magic with your guests. This also builds suspense for the tables who are waiting for me to come over to them, adding a truly unique and fun element of entertainment to your special day.
Q.) How long should we book for?
A.) It depends on the number of guests and time of day really, but normally 1 or 2 hours is ideal. That said, if you fill out the form over on the contact page I’ll be able to come straight back to you with some recommended timings.
Q.) How far will you travel?
A.) Although I’m based in the North West, as a full time professional magician, I can, and have traveled around the world performing – everywhere from Atlanta, Georgia, to Tokyo, Japan. So no matter where your wedding is, it’s not too far!
Q.) How far in advance should I book?
A.) Although I am sometimes available on short notice, a couple of months in advance will be perfect.
Q.) Do I need to pay a deposit?
A.) Yes, a deposit of £100 is required to confirm the booking – which can be paid by either bank transfer, PayPal or cheque. The balance can then be paid anytime up to 14 days before your wedding.
Q.) What do I need to provide?
A.) Nothing at all. The brilliant thing about close up magic is that I can start and stop at a moments notice, so I’m able to work around you and what happens during the day.
Q.) What will you wear?
A.) Although I used to wear a formal three-piece suit, I’ve now taken to a more ‘smart casual’ approach. You’re looking for someone who your guests will instantly warm to, can have a laugh with and doesn’t take themselves to seriously (I will be performing magic tricks after all), so I’ve found more relaxed clothing to be exactly what people are looking for and respond to the best.
Q.) Are you insured?
A.) Yes, I have full public liability insurance up to £5 million. It’s something I never expect to use, but will add peace of mind, I’m sure.
